Historical Background

A Legacy Pledged

Lady Meherbai’s “Jubilee Diamond” was pledged alongside Sir Dorabji Tata's wealth to save Tata Steel from severe financial difficulties after World War I.

Diamond Pavilion

The structure immortalizes the legacy through a steel tubular pavilion, resting on its "tip" and rising outward from the ground toward the sky.

Technical Challenges

Manual Craftsmanship

Due to the lack of specialized machines, 360-degree profile cutting was done manually—a tough and time-consuming process for 45 tonnes of steel.

Assembly Precision

The complex geometry required meticulous alignment of cut pieces. Despite TECLA software, final fittings required intensive manual grinding.

Climate Constraints

Both painting and erection were executed during the rainy season, significantly increasing the difficulty of maintaining structural finishes.
